One game that we/I have been keeping tabs on since it took off into Early Access is CleanFall, the ship-building Noita-inspired action-roguelite from HumanYoyo.

The developer and their buds have been in touch this week to tell me about the newest update for the game, The War Machine Update, and it’s a big one. Thus, I thought I’d pass on the news to you fine folks!

The core of the update is a major overhaul to the ship-building system. The idea is to make things easier for players and to let us have better differentiated builds. Now, each playable character has their own style, which should translate into more interesting constructions.

On top of the building, the destructible world design has been better optimised to improve performance, plus there is a new bestiary. If you want all the details, head over to Steam, where you’ll find out about the new items and various changes that have been implemented.

If you’re new to CleanFall, check out the War Machine Update Trailer below to get a better idea of whether this is your cup of tea!

Finally, there’s a roadmap below for your convenience. I think we’re somewhere between The Legion and Energy Update and The Arbiter’s Domain, but it seems as though HumanYoyo is using this as a general guideline and not a strict list, so take this with a pinch of salt.

That said, there is clearly a defined plan for CleanFall as it moves through Early Access towards full release, which is good to see!

If you’d like to read more, our Kieran had a jolly time with the game when he played an early version of it. Read our CleanFall Impressions here!

Still with me? Of course you are! If you want to keep reading about great hand-picked roguelikes, this website is absolutely chock-full of them. Head over to the Guides Page for a concentrated hit of roguish games, organised via sub-genre and platform.

What’s more, there are always going to be new lists for emerging trends as well as fresh titles to highlight. This is because my backlog is embarrassingly long, and so I’m always trying to balance the new games that arrive in my inbox with playing the stuff I already have.
