Lionhead made some of the most iconic games to ever come out of the UK, and it was a damn shame when Microsoft did what it does best – ruin brilliant game studios for the rest of us – and shut it down back in 2016.
From the ashes of that debacle, a number of development studios have emerged, and the latest to arrive on my radar is called Glowmade. This team might be announcing its debut at Gamescom, but this is not an inexperienced developer, and it shows.

Rogue Fortune is the name of the game, and it’s all about balancing risk and reward as you try to escape a temple clutching treasure. It looks a bit like Hades meets Indiana Jones, but with an interesting twist where your riches power your upgrades, and you must sacrifice your loot to survive traps and endless waves of enemies.
With treasure in your hands, you must escape from the so-called Well of Eternal Riches. Every step you take on your way out will cause a reaction from the temple around you, and you’ll have to balance your greed with your need to, you know, not die.
I think the thing that has captured my attention so thoroughly is the geometric puzzle sections that punctuate the action sequences. This puzzle element sounds like a core part of the experience, not a bolted-on mini-game, and as a fan of Tetris-like brain scratchers, I’m eager to see more of this aspect of Rogue Fortune.
You can wishlist the game now on Steam, but the plan is also to bring the game to PS5, Switch 1+2, and Xbox Series. When? Rogue Fortune is due to land in 2027, and based on this first look, I really can’t wait.
