If you enjoy your roguelites irreverent and silly, then Lucky Tower Ultimate is the game for you. Not only does this tongue-in-cheek side-scroller have magnificent dress sense and incredible teeth, but it’s populated by some very strange monsters.
The 1.0 version of this funny little roguelite dropped back in April, but it reappeared in my life today when I noticed a new roadmap in the ol’ Steam News feed. Therein, I found out about two new content updates and two secret ones that I assume we’re not supposed to know about.
The first update is going to bring a crossbow to the party, and given how straightforward the combat is, especially early on, a bit of variety on that front will be most welcome. As part of the same update, we’re promised more enemy variety, too.
The next content update mentioned in the roadmap is pencilled in for 2027, and it’s then that we’ll finally get pets added to the game.
On top of all that, this year and next, we’re promised secret things and surprise drops. It’s also made clear that we can expect to see more minor quality of life updates, including one that dropped today. All of the details can be found here, if you like that sort of thing.
Still with me? Of course you are! If you want to keep reading about great hand-picked roguelikes, this website is absolutely chock-full of them. Head over to the Guides Page for a concentrated hit of roguish games, organised via sub-genre and platform.
What’s more, there are always going to be new lists for emerging trends as well as fresh titles to highlight. This is because my backlog is embarrassingly long, and so I’m always trying to balance the new games that arrive in my inbox with playing the stuff I already have.
Finally, if you would like to keep track of our original reporting and support the work that we do here in this most niche corner of the Interweb, please make sure we’re one of your trusted sources on Google News. Alternatively, there’s an RSS feed, if you prefer.
