Among the more interesting games to feature during PC Gamer’s Tokyo Direct was Piroker (HABBY.FUN), which got a fancy animated trailer designed to grab our attention and promote the game’s ongoing playtest, which is currently accepting applications.
Piroker is described as a multiplayer poker autobattler where everyone shares the same hand, and what differentiates your play is the items/relics that you have equipped.
While it is ostensibly a multiplayer game and you can play directly with friends and against randoms via matchmaking, you can also play the game asynchronously and at your own pace.
In order to support a healthy number of tactics and playstyles, Piroker has more than 60 pirates to play as and against. Each character has their own economy modifiers, as well as more than 100 in-game items and 40+ buff-granting exotic fish.
As someone who is fond of playing a hand or two of Texas Hold’em, it sounds like an interesting way of remixing a familiar game. That said, I’ve never relied on an exotic fish to win a hand of poker before, but there’s a first time for everything, I guess!
