Landing just in time for Deckbuilders Fest on Steam (which runs from March 25 to April 1), there’s a new roguelite demo for people to try out SolForge Fusion, a hybrid deckbuilder with an extraordinary pedigree.
Developed by Stone Blade Entertainment and based on the 2016 CCG by Justin Gary (the creator of Ascension) and Richard Garfield (of Magic: The Gathering fame), SolForge Fusion is a card battler with “near-endless deck possibilities” where you can fuse decks that are drawn from a collection of thousands of cards.
“The heart of SolForge Fusion lies in its distinctive deck mechanics,” the description on Steam reads. “Here, every playable deck is crafted from a fusion of two algorithmically-generated and unique faction decks.
“When you play a card, it doesn’t just impact the current round—it levels up, becoming a more powerful version and adding more strategy to your play! So, even though it’s easy to learn and set up, there are infinite possibilities!”
Players of the physical game will be able to scan their decks and use them digitally, taking their Forgeborn into battle against others in competitive or casual PvP battles. There’s also the aforementioned roguelite campaign, which will allow players to earn rewards and starting building up their experience.
There’s a demo due to drop on Steam any moment now (I’m told it should be live but at the time of writing it’s not there), and Early Access is due to kick off in earnest sometime later this year.
