As the weekend approaches, we’ve got an intriguing new roguelike for you to try, available for free courtesy of a new demo.
Tokens is an upcoming roguelike deckbuilder that asks the question: what if Balatro met the Roaring Twenties? Instead of traditional cards, however, it swaps them out for poker-style tokens, putting a fresh spin on the familiar formula.
Here, players take on the role of a determined aspirant who is keen to prove their worth to an elite group known as the Token Club. Players must build a deck of Tokens powered by Arcanas (abilities) and Effigies (items) to overcome the challenges set by the enigmatic dealer, Mister Mirage.
Each run offers a new configuration of challenges and opportunities. To advance to the next round, players must line up tokens on the table to beat the required score. Every three rounds, they will face a boss encounter that will test their skills and push them to adapt their strategy.
As I mentioned up top, a demo for Tokens is available today, and it’s planned to launch on Steam in Q3 2026.
