The Final Ascent is upon us, Dear Reader, and I’m finally going to man up and have another go at Peak, the co-op climbing game where death means restarting your ascent.
While not a roguelite per se, Peak has a number of really interesting features which make it worth covering here, I think.
For starters, there’s the proc-gen mountain that everybody climbs, which is actually a new seed every day. Then there is the littering of items throughout Peak’s various biomes, which makes every new ascent feel different.
Speaking of which, there are new biomes in the game, adding further variety to your attempts. As Team Peak explained, Gloom and The Citadel will be in place for the next couple of weeks, before they start to cycle out with Caldera and The Kiln.
Of course, you can expect to find new items as you ascend, and apparently there’s something very secret waiting out there to be discovered, but that’s “only for the most determined scouts…”
The Steam page details this and all the other additions, as well as a bunch of gameplay tweaks. There’s also a 50% sale for the next week.
