Sulfur is a gritty first-person roguelite extraction shooter from Perfect Random, and it has been chugging through Early Access on PC for almost two years. However, that time is coming to an end soon.
In fact, the game’s EA journey will end exactly two years after it first started, when Sulfur exits Early Access on Steam PC (Win) and also launches in full on PS4, PS5, Switch 1+2, and all of the Xboxes.
I really liked Sulfur when it first launched, and I’ve been keeping track of it ever since; however, console gamers may not be familiar with the shooter, which delivers challenging combat, weighty weapons, and an interesting approach to the extraction concept.
When I wrote my Early Access review back in 2024, I called Sulfur “a truly enigmatic first-person shooter with oodles of personality” – and I stand by Past Mike’s opinion on this one, even if I haven’t played the game for almost two years.
However, with lots of new content coming to Sulfur in just a couple of weeks, I’m very much looking forward to returning to this fascinating shooter when it lands on PC and consoles on October 28.
Finally, I just noticed in the latest statement shared on Steam that while there is no plan to include multiplayer in Sulfur at launch, it is being worked on, and it looks like Perfect Random has DLC plans, too.
