Sheeps is the name of a newly announced puzzle roguelite about counting sheep (and hopefully not falling asleep at your PC).
These aren’t just any sheep, though. These fluffy little fuckers are streaming into your world via a mysterious portal. Why they are arriving, nobody knows, but in this debut release from Brainfruit, if we can count enough of ’em, we might find out what the hell is going on.
While it’s a roguelite in terms of structure, Sheeps is also a game about counting. This is a skill that many of us take for granted, and it sounds like Brainfruit intends to punish us for our overconfidence. Consider me nervous, but also intrigued.

Along the way, you can count on meeting some strange talking animal characters, including a crafty spider, a dye-obsessed chameleon, more than one llama, and even more sheep.
Another interesting thing, beyond the bonkers set-up, is the people behind the game. Sheeps is the work of artist Garrett Miller and Emmy-winning writer Rob Dubbin (whose credits include The Colbert Report and The Late Show). Based on everything I’ve seen and read so far, the pair are trying to capture a surreal, irreverent tone.
“With Sheeps, we at Brainfruit feel we have finally solved wakefulness,” Rob Dubbin explained. “Think of all the hours you weren’t counting sheep before, because it would have been disastrous to fall asleep at your job, or in mid-conversation. Thanks to the high-octane counting action of Sheeps, that problem will soon be a thing of the past.”
There’s no release date for all this high-octane counting at the time of writing (beyond 2027), but the Sheeps Steam page lists the game for Windows PC, Mac, and Linux. Head over and hit the wishlist button if you’d like to keep up to date, and check out the announcement trailer below to see the sheeps doing their thing.
