Dark and brooding roguelite roadtrip Darkest Dungeon II is heading to PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5 on July 15, I can confirm.
Pre-orders for the game are open right this very minute, and PS Plus subscribers will bag themselves an additional 15% discount. Speaking of discounts, there’s also an Oblivion Bundle which is a cheaper way to pick up the base game and The Binding Blade DLC (“two new heroes, a special questline, wandering boss, and more”).
Red Hook has been building in DualSense integration, so “you’ll feel the heartbeat of heroes on Death’s Door, and the rumble of the stagecoach’s wheels as they roll over a trap” via the controller.
The developer has also reinforced the fact that the plan is to continue working on the game and add new content over time. That should include the new Kingdoms mode that was announced earlier this month – a free campaign that is being added to the game later this year (hit the link for everything I know at the time of writing).
I’m not sure if Kingdoms will be landing on console at the same time as it does on PC, but I’m reasonably confident that it will make its way to PS4&5 at some point.
I originally played the first Darkest Dungeon on PlayStation, before restarting the game on Xbox (and then again on PC because I LOVE IT). That being the case, I’m glad to see the sequel heading over to Sony’s platform!
