The funding campaign for an upcoming graphic novel set in the Darkest Dungeon universe has just launched on BackerKit, where the project was almost instantly funded, with weeks still left to run.
It sounds like Darkest Dungeon’s creative director Chris Bourassa has been locked in the Vault Comics dungeon. Therein, he was forced to work with writer John Lees (The Nasty, Sink) and artist-illustrator Maan House (Dark Souls: Mother of Mourning, The Cemeterians) on the project, which is going to be sent out to backers in late 2027.
Before that, though, it’s time for eager readers to put their money on the proverbial table and reserve their copy of the new tome born of the unholy union between Red Hook Studios and Vault Comics.
According to the campaign literature, the new DD story picks up after the events of Darkest Dungeon II, and the old band will have to get back together to vanquish a “familiar threat” that has reawakened. I mean, based on what I know of the series, that can’t be good.
If everything you’ve just read has you intrigued, head over to the campaign page on BackerKit to take a proper look at the various editions and pledge levels. You can essentially pay what you want for this one, starting with a basic digital copy and then going all the way up to a super special edition that, presumably, gets delivered to your door via a rickety old stagecoach.
