The Devil’s Due is an upcoming poker roguelite about cheating in clever ways, and if that sounds like your idea of a good time – and I’m not judging if it is – there’s a brand new version of the demo out now for you to try ahead of the game’s launch next month.
Developed by Games People Play, The Devil’s Due is a quirky-looking card game with striking art and an irreverent approach to playing poker. You can really see the Monty Python influence in the game’s animation style, and it looks a bit like a twisted puppet show, but in a really cool way.

The game casts you as a poker player who has lost his soul in a game with the Devil. Oops. After this minor error of judgment, you must play your way out of trouble by beating enemies inspired by the seven deadly sins and, presumably, return to the world of the living. No pressure then.
“The goal was to make poker feel like poker. Not an abstract optimization puzzle. It’s about chaos, bluffing, desperation, and figuring out how to cheat just enough to survive without getting caught,” Jack Kristoffersen from Games People Play explained.
The demo has been out for a while, but the studio has continued to update it throughout the development process, and the latest version is available to download now on Steam (just ahead of Next Fest, too).
If you’d like to try this macabre poker game about cheating death, check out the demo on Steam, or hold tight because The Devil’s Due is coming to PC (Win) on November 10.
