The lovely folks over at MegaCrit are preparing for their summer hols, which is why the usual cadence of patches has slipped just smidge.
That said, while the August patch isn’t happening, that doesn’t mean that there aren’t some interesting tidbits to tell you about.
According to the August Neowsletter, MegaCrit is cooking up some new experimental game modes, although they didn’t go as far as suggesting what these modes might entail.
The studio then mentioned that they are working on an alternate Act 2, and they also confirmed that another character is indeed in the works (see the “teaser” image below for a giggle).
“In order to bring you this much-anticipated content, we will be shifting our updates to be a bit further apart, at least for a while,” the studio confirmed. “We can’t guarantee the exact pace or if said pace will be regular, but we’ll continue to keep you updated, as always!”
It sounds like the consequence of this shift to more substantial content drops is that we will once again be getting patches less often, but if that means we get more meaningful updates, I don’t think any of us will mind!

There’s not much more news in the post, although MegaCrit did confirm that we won’t be getting schievements in Slay the Spire 2 until the game hits 1.0 – whenever that may be.
If you can’t wait for Slay the Spire 2 to leave Early Access, there are loads of great alternatives to consider in my guide to roguelike deckbuilders!
