If you thought that the Yoda-looking folks from Peglin were too cute for your tastes, and if you prefer your pachinko battles to end with the destruction of entire planets, read on, Dear Reader…
Splatchinko is the name of a new pachinko roguelite where you play as a love-struck alien in search of their loved one, who has been stolen from you (according to some giant space chicken who claims to be your mum).
Except, you don’t try to get your missing love back with any subtlety; you do so by flinging your eyeballs at planets and destroying them in your desperate intergalactic search.
The more your eyeballs hit their targets, the more damage they do, and, of course, you can boost those damage numbers by hitting pegs on the way. You can even activate rockets as they fly past you, diverting them at the alien planets that happen to be in your way.
Hitting the planets and completing objectives, such as activating specific pegs, gives you access to new eyeballs. These are your ammo, and the best ones are limited-use. In terms of eyeball variety, there are quite a few in the demo I tried today, and some of their functions are absolutely absurd and quite silly.
Splatchinko is heading to PC (Win) in just a few weeks, when the game launches on November 12. I’ve already got it wishlisted on Steam and will be back with a deeper dive around launch. As for the demo, it has certainly captured my interest because, frankly, I thought those Yoda-looking folks from Peglin were way too cute for my tastes. Bring on the intergalactic eyeball bombs!
