I haven’t even put pen to paper on the May monthly, but I already know it’s going to be a solid one with Deep Rock Galactic: Rogue Core and Everything is Crab scheduled to release.
Another game that has just joined this growing line up is Atomic Owl which will be spreading its wings and arriving on PlayStation 5, Switch, and Xbox Series on May 20th.
Released on PC last July, the game is described as a a synthwave pixel art hack ‘n slash platformer roguelite inspired by the SNES era. It sees players take on the role of Hidalgo Bladewing, a bird on a quest to save his corrupted friends and defeat the twisted Crow Sorcerer, Omega Wing.
I really like the look of this one’s retro-inspired design and its synthwave and JRPG influenced soundtrack does sound intriguing. Elevating the production values further is the fact that the game is voice acted and features fully animated cutscenes.
The game will be hitting the above platforms with enhanced audio, UX improvements, and a new no roguelite mode (but who needs that!). Atomic Owl is also launching with a 10% launch discount for $12.99.
Be sure to stay tuned to find this one included within our May monthly round up. In the meantime, our April feature can be found here.

Cool roguelike deckbuilders: Balatro | Sorry, Slay the Spire fans, but this poker-solitaire deckbuilder has stolen Mike’s heart and won’t give it back.
Exciting roguelike platformers: Spelunky | Now, don’t get us wrong, Dead Cells is an incredible game, especially with all the DLC switched on. But when it comes to impact, you just can’t beat Spelunky.
Amazing action-roguelites: Hades 2 | And finally, let’s wrap things up with our favourite of them all. There’s no beating the original Hades, although Hades 2 comes pretty close!
