Lightbulb Crew, a studio with a penchant for developing stylish tactical games, has just confirmed the release date for its next: Ex Sanguis.
The developer is following up on its successful debut, Othercide (2020), with a tactical roguelite that bears the studio’s signature visual style, with high-contrast designs that play out on stylised grid-based maps.
Ex Sanguis is the name of the game, and I can confirm that it is due to hit Early Access on PC (Win) on September 10. Not long to wait, then.

Ex Sanguis has several interesting design elements, including time manipulation and, of course, the blood mechanic alluded to in the title. This XCOM-inspired tactics game is all about painting the map red and black with blood, in an attempt to bring life to a world stuck in stasis.
The whole premise sounds quite abstract, but I’m really impressed by how it cleverly knits together the gameplay and the striking aesthetic, building on the work the studio started with Othercide.
There’s a new trailer below, which shows the game in full flow. There’s also a temporary return for the game’s demo, as part of an ongoing indie event. You can find the demo and wishlist the game over on Steam.
