Now and then a game makes a surprising return from seemingly out of nowhere. For example, it wasn’t long ago that Starward Rogue made a comeback, and made the leap from PC to consoles.

Today an even more enigmatic game has returned. I’m talking about Sir, You Are Being Hunted, a super interesting stealth game about gentleman robots that are out to kill you, by Big Robot.

I reviewed it back in the day (the day being back in 2014), and my memory of the game involves stealthy exploration of a ruined alternate vision of Britishness, with crumbling post industrial ruins that are inhabited by robotic AI-powered gentlemen who are out to kill you.

It was well ahead of its time, if you ask me, and the game’s use of proc-gen to flesh out its fascinating world was particularly memorable. I also liked the combination of stealth-driven exploration and challenging combat, which made it feel very much like a survival game at times. Looking back, I think it lacked the structural depth and deep variety needed to hook a mainstream audience. I remember it being a good game, though.

That’s why I’m pleased to report that Sir, You Are Being Hunted has returned this week, and has launched on PS5, Switch, and Xbox Series. I didn’t have it on my bingo card but it’s a pleasant surprise nonetheless!

On the other hand, it sounds like the Reinvented Edition, which I only just found out about, is not going to be completed, as the developer working on it has since shut down. Shame.

Let’s not end on a downer, eh! Check out the new gameplay trailer below to see the game in action, as shared by developer Jim Rossignol.

Finally, if you’ve not played the game and you’re on PC, it’s available on Steam and GOG, where it’s currently got a heavy discount.
