The Last Humble Bee is an isometric bullet heaven roguelite with an open world and an adorable art style. The demo released recently and I decided to give it a shot after following the developer on Twitter.com for a couple months.

Your goal as the last bee alive is to activate four obelisks that grant access to hell in order to maybe save your friends. Each one of these obelisks is positioned on an opposite corner of the map with tons of enemies to fight along the way.

The open world aspect is a little weird, with loading times needing some optimization and more reasons to explore, but I find the nonlinearity to be intriguing.

There’s not much to say for run variety in the demo as I wouldn’t expect much, but I did enjoy the different melee weapons the game has to offer and how they all felt really good to use. Presentation is really good here with relaxed background music, soft visuals, and a solid amount of oomph to the combat.

The Last Humble Bee is currently unreleased on Steam but has a playable demo available now. Developer Jacob Weersing has revealed that the plan is to launch the game fully in 2025.
