Summer is firmly here, and that means not-E3-anymore announcements from everyone and their great-aunt. poncle, the developer behind Vampire Survivors, is among those with news to share, and there’s quite a bit to tell you about, too.

First of all, there’s a big fat expansion on the way. It’s called Legacy of the Blood Moon, and it’s stacked with content, including a new XL stage called Red Moon Manor, 16+ new weapons (including base forms and evolutions), and around a dozen new characters. You can wishlist it here.

The new expansion is a chonky one, clearly, but it’s also got some interesting elements beyond the injection of content. It’s actually a sequel (of sorts) to another DLC, which long-time players will remember as being the first expansion for the game, Legacy of the Moonspell. Ah… memories.

The project started as an attempt to bulk out the previous expansion and bring more value, but it sounds like it spiralled into something much bigger. Moonspell will still get an update, but Legacy of the Blood Moon is now very much its own thing, built around a story where an “unscrupulous cult” called Clan Bloodmoon retraces the steps of an old leader – Saint Baal’Thasar – in search of paradise.

As this is a major expansion, fans can also expect a nice serving of new music into the game, with eight new tracks being added to the mix. VS already has one of the best video game soundtracks around, so I’m rather looking forward to hearing the new tunes.

Another flex by poncle, before I share the trailer, is the confirmed price of the upcoming expansion, which will set you back one whole money. That’s a dollar, or about 80p here in the UK, to be clear.

Finally, there’s no release date for Legacy of the Bloodmoon beyond “summer”, which the studio helpfully confirms means “not winter.”

Vampire Survivors: The Wet One

Fans of Vampire Survivors are eating well today, after poncle also used this weekend as the moment to drop the next big free content expansion for the base game: Update 1.15 – AKA The Wet One.

The Wet One brings a new location called The Lycaeum, two new characters, and a-still-to-be-determined number of weapons, but only on PC (Mac and Win). But worry not, my dear console-owning rogues; the update should be with you by the end of the month, including on Nintendo Switch 2!

Finally, before the new trailer for the 1.15 Update, poncle also announced that it has opened a new studio in Japan. No doubt that will help feed the studio’s thirst for the fresh blood of new IPs.
