It’s time for a proper blast from the past, as Atari is bringing back another of its classic IPs, this time in the form of Haunted House.
The game has been modernised for a new generation via isometric stealth-based gameplay. This new take on a classic franchise landed last Friday on PC, Nintendo Switch, PlayStation, and Xbox Series. Just in time for Halloween, wouldn’t you know?!
The Steam page promises a bunch of Atari Easter eggs, for the original HH and for other Atari games. In fact, it’s yet another good sign that Atari and its current owners are finally taking care of its extensive catalogue of classic IP.

The latest Atari game to return from the dead is described as a “tribute to the classic Atari 2600 game, considered the first-ever survival horror title”. According to the presser, it’s an isometric roguelite where every new run means a new layout for the titular haunted house.
We’re promised “procedurally generated room layouts, shifting walls, unpredictable enemy placements, and ghostly encounters.” Players will tackle these challenges as Lyn Graves, who’s on site to rescue her uncle and friends.
I’ve not had a chance to play this one as I couldn’t commit to a review, but you can see the launch trailer below to see it in action for yourselves. You can also see from the screenshot above that the visuals are actually rather charming, so fingers crossed the gameplay matches up to Haunted House’s new lick of paint.
