I’m getting on the bandwagon for the current Humble Choice very late in the month, but with the fantastic Dead Cells headlining August’s offering alongside Sega’s Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth, I think it’s still worth highlighting this month’s bundle before it disappears and another takes its place. Here’s the full line-up:

  • Dead Cells + The Bad Seed DLC
  • Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth
  • Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Shredder’s Revenge – Ultimate Edition
  • Decktamer
  • Conquest Dark
  • Gatekeeper
  • Pile Up!
  • Dark Envoy

As you can see, there are several roguelites in August’s Humble Choice, and I particularly liked Conquest Dark when I played it last year. It’s a bullet heaven, but with a much tighter focus than Vampire Survivors. It’s also got a cool Conan the Barbarian vibe, which I enjoyed.

Decktamer is a deep and interesting monster taming-themed deckbuilder, and then there’s Gatekeeper, a top-down co-op action roguelite, although I’ve not played that one yet.

Naturally, I think the overall highlight is Dead Cells. I’m sure many of you already have it, so throwing in The Bad Seed DLC feels like a smart move to sweeten the deal if, like me, you already own the base game.

This month’s bundle is live for a couple more days, until September 1, at which point Humble’s collection will update with a new selection. If you want this lot, you have until then, and it’ll set you back $14.99 / £11.49.

Finally, before I send you over to the Humble website, a quick heads-up in the interests of transparency. I just signed up as an affiliate, so I’ll get a small commission if you pull the trigger on August’s Humble Choice.

Still with me? Of course you are! If you want to keep reading about great hand-picked roguelikes, this website is absolutely chock-full of them. Head over to the Guides Page for a concentrated hit of roguish games, organised via sub-genre and platform.

What’s more, there are always going to be new lists for emerging trends as well as fresh titles to highlight. This is because my backlog is embarrassingly long, and so I’m always trying to balance the new games that arrive in my inbox with playing the stuff I already have.
