While everyone else is worrying about Alien Isolation 2 and whatnot, I’ve been digging through the Interwebs looking for roguelike treasure, and I think I just unearthed two for the price of one!

Let’s start with the first half of the headline and the recent 1.9 patch for Jupiter Hell. The Heavy Update isn’t just a nice name; it signifies the addition of an entirely new playable class in the Doom-inspired turn-based roguelike.

The Heavy Gunner will bring some new traits to the party, including new Master traits called Firefly, Nuclear Coil, Trench Warrior, Meatgrinder, and Ablative Armor. Sounds crunchy.

The full contents of the update, and all the usual details about tweaks and changes, can be found over on the Jupiter Hell Steam page. It also states there that the update after this one will be called either “2.0 Ascension or 1.10 Aftermath” – although it’s also noted that future updates for JH will be a bit further apart moving forward.

Jupiter Hell Classic arrives at the Terminal Update

What actually caught my attention initially was the Terminal Update for Jupiter Hell Classic, the pixel-art demake of Jupiter Hell that I first covered back when it hit Early Access.

The Steam post details that a whole bunch of new mechanical enemies have been added to the game. It’s noted that the new drones have necessitated a bit of a rebalance, but that has been applied across all versions of the game, including the demo!

The next update was also teased, with 0.12 CRI bringing “even more enemies, new branches, possibly also the Medic class and more!”
