Right off the back of yesterday’s Hungry Horrors news, we’ve got another fun and unique-looking deckbuilder for you to check out.
Developed by Indonesian developer Mankibo, Montabi is a colourful roguelike that sees players assemble a team of creatures and engage in thrilling turn-based battles. It features 60+ unique monsters and similar to Pokémon, these can be levelled up and evolved.
According to the game’s Steam page, parties will consist of three Montabi and their unique abilities can be synergised. You’ll also be able to collect gadgets and equip charms to give you the edge in battle. Still no word on trading functionality with a link cable, though!
On the game, Mankibo said: “We wanted to create a game that blends the joy of collecting creatures with the depth of tactical decision-making, ensuring every run feels fresh and exciting.”
In a blog post from the developer, they also mentioned that they are currently preparing the game’s first public demo, but there is no date in mind currently. It also seems to only be heading to PC for now.
The game presently doesn’t have a release date with its Steam page simply saying, “Coming Soon.” Be sure to add this one to your wishlist, though, for any future developments on this front.

Cool roguelike deckbuilders: Balatro | Sorry, Slay the Spire fans, but this poker-solitaire deckbuilder has stolen Mike’s heart and won’t give it back.
Exciting roguelike platformers: Spelunky | Now, don’t get us wrong, Dead Cells is an incredible game, especially with all the DLC switched on. But when it comes to impact, you just can’t beat Spelunky.
Amazing action-roguelites: Hades 2 | And finally, let’s wrap things up with our favourite of them all. There’s no beating the original Hades, although Hades 2 comes pretty close!
