We’re only a few months in 2026 and we’ve already seen two of the biggest roguelike launches of all time.
Mewgenics launched last month and racked up 65,962 players on its first day. Now, Slay the Spire 2 has recorded an eye-watering 282,314 concurrent players, making it the biggest roguelike launch of all time.
Sharing the news on BlueSky (though the figures are now already out of date), developer Mega Crit revealed this represented a 92,982% increase over the original, joking that Slay the Spire 3 should hit 166,861,777 concurrent players by 2035. So, Slay the Spire 3 confirmed then?
We recently rounded up the figures on the biggest roguelike and roguelite launches of all-time. When it comes to the top five, the current standings are: Slay the Spire 2 (282,314), Hades 2 (102,467), Megabonk (82,301), 太吾绘卷 The Scroll Of Taiwu (72,121), and Risk of Rain 2 (70,194).
If you’re wondering where Rogueliker’s review of Slay the Spire 2 is, it’s currently in the works, with Mike set to deliver his full thoughts early next week.
