As anyone who has read my recent Early Access review of Yet Another Zombie Survivors will already know, I’m looking forward to the next big content drop from Awesome Games Studios.
While the next update is still off in the distance, we just got a quick update from the developer about what they’re cooking up.
The update – which does have some sad news about the studio’s pet rabbit, Sanji – includes confirmation that AGS is working on a new forest environment.
“You’ll face more challenges than before, as well as brand new enemies and modified versions of the old ones,” the post on Steam teased. They plan on calling it Green Hell, presumably in honour of Creepy Jar’s jungle survival sim.

The current public beta isn’t for new content, rather AGS and partner HyperStrange are working on optimising the game.
Players will know that it can get very busy when the screen fills up with enemies, but the post confirms a frame-rate boost from 20 to as much as 100 percent. The Steam Deck version, which I’ve been playing, is going up from 20-40 FPS to a respectable 50-70 FPS.
Finally, the post details the addition of item pool customisation options, which is coming in Update 0.6. In a nutshell, we’ll be able to tweak the contents of the item pool and thus tailor each run, with an overall item cap of 40.
The next update for Yet Another Zombie Survivors is due to go into public beta in March, 2024.
