I was doomscrolling the evening away when I saw a post about Cosmo Cargo. The premise was intriguing, and I was even more interested when I discovered it was the work of Steredenn developer Pixelnest Studio.

The developer’s next game is a roguelite autobattler inspired by FTL, but unlike Faster Than Light, Cosmo Cargo has a more contemporary approach to captaining your ship: inventory management.

The visual style looks really pleasing on the eye, and the combination of inventory management and FTL-like space adventuring is a winning one. That might also be Cosmo Cargo’s biggest challenge: there are already several games doing similar things, all made by similarly capable devs.

I’m an optimist myself, and I see good things ahead for this one. If your interest has been piqued too, head over to the Cosmo Cargo Steam page. The demo there was updated with a bunch of new stuff just a couple of days ago, and even if you’re already familiar, it sounds like a lot will have changed.

If all you want to do is a cheeky little wishlist, then head over with the knowledge that Cosmo Cargo is coming to PC (Lin, Mac, Win) at some point in Q1 2027. Now, before you go, check out the trailer that Pixelnest put out when the game was announced earlier this year!

If you can’t bear to leave me, my article about space games has a section on games like FTL, which I’m always looking to expand and where this game will hopefully appear when it’s ready!

Would you like to know more?

Still with me? Of course you are! If you want to keep reading about great hand-picked roguelikes, this website is absolutely chock-full of them. Head over to the Guides Page for a concentrated hit of roguish games, organised via sub-genre and platform.

What’s more, there are always going to be new lists for emerging trends as well as fresh titles to highlight. This is because my backlog is embarrassingly long, and so I’m always trying to balance the new games that arrive in my inbox with playing the stuff I already have.
