In a post-E3 world, it’s becoming near impossible to stay on top of every press showcase, but fear not Dear Reader, as we are certainly crazy enough to try.

The latest in a long string of 2025 press conferences was last night’s Galaxies Gaming Showcase, which was streamed exclusively on Twitch and saw more than 50 announcements and game updates.

Obviously, not everything shown was related to roguelikes, so similar to last week’s Triple-i Initiative showcase, we’ve dug deep and rounded up for you all the stories we thought you’d all care about the most.

Neon Abyss 2 | Veewo Games | PC (Win) | Off the back of reading Mike’s excellent preview, one game that I was pleasantly surprised to see was Neon Abyss 2. Here, we learned that the run ‘n’ gun roguelike platformer would be entering Early Access on 17th July. Developer Veewo Games has also opened applications for an online playtest. So sign up here if you’re burning to check this one out.

Demon Spore | DinoBoss | PC (Win) | July is shaping up to be a pretty special month, as we heard too that Demon Spore would also be landing. Described as an intense action-horror roguelike, the game sees players blast their way out of tentacle hell following a lab experiment gone wrong. If you love The Thing, we reckon you’ll get a kick out of its animated trailer, so be sure to give it a watch below.

Windblown | Motion Twin | PC (Win) | We also got a look at the first new biome to appear in Windblown, the latest project from Dead Cells developer Motion Twin. Out now, Sanctuary includes four new weapons, two new enemy variants, and a brand new boss to topple. It also comes with a range of fixes that help elevate the core experience.

Lynked: Banner of the Spark | Fuzzybot | PC (Win), PS5, Xbox Series | The wait for this colourful roguelike and life sim hybrid isn’t long at all as Lynked: Banner of the Spark is leaving Early Access and arriving on consoles on 22nd May. The core gameplay loop for this one sounds right up our street. By fighting through waves of robot enemies, players can then use their parts to craft a thriving town.

[REDACTED] | Striking Distance Studios | PC (Win), PS5, Xbox Series | We got a brand new trailer telling us how awesome [REDACTED is. This comic book-style roguelike received a new accolades trailer designed to win over those who have yet to take plunge. To support these efforts, the game currently has a sizable 30% discount on Steam.

Covenant | Legion Studio, Inc | PC (Win) | Rounding up our coverage is a new dark fantasy RPG that has some serious industry talent behind it. The game received a second trailer, and we got another look at its dreary world. Covenant takes place in an interconnected Soulslike world, has campaign co-op and PVP, as well as the ability to change the attribute of all weapons. It’s world looks expansive and gorgeous, and its quality to a AAA standard so it’s easily on our wishlist.

The Best Roguelike Games: great roguelites, deckbuilders, RPGs, bullet heavens, and more

Next, there are genre-specific lists that delve into the best roguelike games of all types. I’ve pulled out the best examples from each category, alongside the links to more in-depth articles!

The best turn-based roguelikes: Caves of Qud | There are some seriously incredible turn-based roguelikes out there. Of all the modern games, these are the closest to the original Rogue.

Great bullet heavens and auto-shooters: Vampire Survivors | There could be only one choice for this category, given how all other games are called survivors-likes for a reason!

Awesome first-person rogues: Gunfire Reborn | We almost went with Blue Prince for this spot, but most people checking out first-person rogues probably want to wield a gun, you know?!

Cool roguelike deckbuilders: Balatro | Sorry, Slay the Spire fans, but this poker-solitaire deckbuilder has stolen Mike’s heart and won’t give it back.

Brilliant roguelite top-down and third-person shooters: Returnal | Bit of a broad one, but with our other favourite action-roguelites featured elsewhere, we were obliged to mention Returnal here.

Exciting roguelike platformers: Spelunky | Now, don’t get us wrong, Dead Cells is an incredible game, especially with all the DLC switched on. But when it comes to impact, you just can’t beat Spelunky.

Strategy Roguelikes: FTL Faster Than Light | Another classic roguelike that we’re still playing years after launch.

Amazing action-roguelites: Hades 2  | And finally, let’s wrap things up with our favourite of them all. There’s no beating the original Hades, although Hades 2 comes pretty close!
