If you’re a disciple of everyone’s favourite little lamb, then I’ve got some rocking news for you on this fine October morning: there is a new collab in the works with some huge names from the metal scene contributing to a new Cult of the Lamb album called Hymns of the Unholy.

The new album, which is dropping on October 28, is a metal-inspired reworking of the orginal soundtrack by River Boy. What’s more, some serious names from the metal scene are involved.

There’s a new single embedded below for your viewing pleasure, and you’ll find the tracklist below along with the official write-up of who contributed what to the album, because it made no sense to rewrite that for the sake of it.

Written, arranged and produced by Sam George (Pick Up Goliath) at Mammoth Sound Studio, the six songs feature vocals written and performed by Howard Jones (Light the Torch, Sion, ex-Killswitch Engage) and Matthew K. Heafy (Trivium); guitar work by Scott LePage & Clay Gober (Polyphia), Javier Reyes (Animals as Leaders), Josh Baines (Malevolence) and Sean Long (While She Sleeps); and drums by Mike Malyan (ex-Monuments).

“Video games have always been an important part of my life, so it’s been amazing to work with the Massive Monster team and turn Cult of the Lamb’s iconic soundtrack into a metal album,” explained Matthew Kiichi Heafy, the lead singer of Trivium.

“There’s such a natural link between video games, heavy metal and the game’s themes that a collaboration like this just makes sense. I hope fans of the game have as much fun listening to this as I did writing and performing my parts, and I hope the metal community and anyone who might not have played Cult of the Lamb before embraces this as a standalone album and checks out the game!”

And without further ado, here is the full track list:

  1. “CULT” – Performed by Pick Up Goliath feat. Howard Jones (Light The Torch, Sion, ex-Killswitch Engage), Scott LePage (Polyphia) & Mike Malyan (ex-Monuments)

The Best Roguelike Games: great roguelites, deckbuilders, RPGs, bullet heavens, and more

Next, there are genre-specific lists that delve into the best roguelike games of all types. I’ve pulled out the best examples from each category, alongside the links to more in-depth articles!

The best turn-based roguelikes: Caves of Qud | There are some seriously incredible turn-based roguelikes out there. Of all the modern games, these are the closest to the original Rogue.

Great bullet heavens and auto-shooters: Vampire Survivors | There could be only one choice for this category, given how all other games are called survivors-likes for a reason!

Awesome first-person rogues: Gunfire Reborn | We almost went with Blue Prince for this spot, but most people checking out first-person rogues probably want to wield a gun, you know?!

Cool roguelike deckbuilders: Balatro | Sorry, Slay the Spire fans, but this poker-solitaire deckbuilder has stolen Mike’s heart and won’t give it back.

Brilliant roguelite top-down and third-person shooters: Returnal | Bit of a broad one, but with our other favourite action-roguelites featured elsewhere, we were obliged to mention Returnal here.

Exciting roguelike platformers: Spelunky | Now, don’t get us wrong, Dead Cells is an incredible game, especially with all the DLC switched on. But when it comes to impact, you just can’t beat Spelunky.

Strategy Roguelikes: FTL Faster Than Light | Another classic roguelike that we’re still playing years after launch.

Amazing action-roguelites: Hades 2  | And finally, let’s wrap things up with our favourite of them all. There’s no beating the original Hades, although Hades 2 comes pretty close!
