A shiny new rogue has appeared on my radar in the form of Jotunnslayer: Hordes of Hel, a new “roguelike horde-survivor game set in the dark realms of Norse mythology.”
As far as elevator pitches go, this is a good one. I’ve been reading loads about Norse myths with my kids, and I’ve watched at least one of the Marvel movies. Basically, I’m ready for this one.
Publisher Grindstone is providing backup for Games Farm to do the developing, and the plan is for there to be a demo released in May 2024, with the Early Access release of the game pencilled in for the autumn.
The Steam listing promises a range of diverse playable characters and escalating bosses that you’ll need to “kite” around, plus there’s the usual side portion of meta-progression that we’ve come to expect.
One thing that I will say about Jotunnslayer: Hordes of Hel is that it looks absolutely phenomenal, and I’m eager to have a look at this one if only to experience the audio-visual side of things. Check out the trailer below to see what I mean.
