As I was scrolling through the latest press releases I came across a call-to-action from developer Mythic Alliance. The studio is looking for potential participants to register their interest in getting their hands on the next demo of Riftstorm.
I thought I’d heard of this one before but it turns out I hadn’t – it’s just a rather generic name (maybe I covered Rift: Storm Legion back in the day and the name merely reactivated an old memory).
That said, familiar title aside, I’m very much into the concept put forth by MA: the studio describes the game as a roguelite shooter where players, alone or with a couple of buds, play as elite secret agents that are battling a variety of cosmic horrors.
Existing players should note that the new demo will include a “narrative layer, two new playable operatives, and one new mythic type,” and you can register your interest over on Steam.

I’m going to venture off piste for a second, because I think there’s another interesting thing about this game.
However you feel about blockchain, it sounds like Mythic is trying to do something genuinely new with the technology. I wouldn’t normally be even vaguely interested in some new meta universe, but after Disney recently invested in the creators of Fortnite, I think a more collaborative ecosystem could be an interesting counterpoint to what’s happening at Epic Games.
That said, I’m already at risk of venturing into territory I don’t know enough about to offer meaningful comment, so I’ll leave this link to the Mythic Portal and let you do your own digging.
