If you’ve already had a chance to read my Astral Ascent review then you’ll know that Hibernian Workshop has just released a really fun roguelite platformer. If you haven’t, feel free to click through!
Astral Ascent is an action-packed game about trying to escape a strange floating prison in the sky, and fighting your way through 12 Zodiac Guardians. You combine melee combat with a range of spectacular spells to create a lot of on-screen chaos.

The below videos are part of a returning series, and you can watch my first and tenth attempts at Risk of Rain Returns, too. The idea is pleasingly straightforward: I’ll share my initial progress so you can get an idea about a new release’s early gameplay without getting too many spoilers.
Here’s the first of the two clips. Apologies for the abrupt stop, the recording ended early for some reason. While you won’t get the pleasure of watching me fail spectacularly, you do get to see the opening of the game, including the tutorial section.
The second video shows the tenth run, and as would expect, and I get quite a bit further.
