With the days getting longer and Summer Game Fest now behind us, we’re back with another round-up of unmissable demos from Steam Next Fest (June 15–22).

Fresh off the back of Steam Bullet Fest earlier this month, June’s edition looks just as strong, bringing together a varied mix of deckbuilders, traditional roguelikes, and action roguelites.

As always, we’ve sifted through the noise to highlight the most interesting demos from the festival, starting with Ascenders: Beyond the Peak.

Ascenders: Beyond the Peak | Ludogram | Q3 2026 | PC (Win)

Fellow climbing roguelike White Knuckle was one of our favourites last year, so we’re keen to see whether Ascenders: Beyond the Peak can reach the same heights.

Leading a group of alpinists up a snow-covered mountain, you’ll scale icy walls, navigate avalanches, and face Lovecraft-inspired horrors. You’ll also be forced to make difficult moral decisions, as your team is tethered together and a single misstep can spell disaster for everyone.

There are also several different climber classes to choose from, each offering unique tools and traversal techniques suited to different approaches.

Shroom and Gloom | Team Lazerbeam | Q3 2026 | PC (Mac, Win)

Shroom and Gloom is easily one of my most anticipated roguelikes of the year, so I was delighted to see it receive a Steam Next Fest demo.

The Devolver Digital-published title sets itself apart by having players build and operate two separate decks. An exploration deck is used to navigate dungeons, uncover secrets, and unlock new abilities, while a combat deck is reserved for taking on the game’s many fungal foes.

Alongside its unique dual-deck mechanic, Shroom and Gloom stands out thanks to its striking hand-drawn art style and distinctive first-person card-playing perspective.

Guncrypt | Halfbrick Studios | TBD | PC (Win)

GunCrypt immediately brings Enter the Gungeon to mind with its chaotic shootouts in tight, claustrophobic arenas.

However, its biggest twist lies in how you build your arsenal, focusing on crafting the perfect sequence of shots rather than simply finding stronger weapons. There are said to be over 60 unique rounds, which can also be fused together to create devastating combinations.

Mexican Ninja | Madbricks | 2026 | PC (Win), PlayStation, Xbox

Fast-paced, bloody, and packed with slick combos to master, Mexican Ninja looks like it could be an absolute blast. It’s also one of the few games in this round-up confirmed for a multi-platform release, with versions planned for PC, PlayStation, and Xbox.

Set on the neon-soaked streets of Nuevo Tokyo, a fever-dream fusion of Mexican grit and Japanese cyberpunk ruled by the corrupt Narkuzas, this 2.5D roguelite beat ’em up looks every bit as stylish as it sounds. Between runs, players can unlock new abilities, experiment with different builds, earn the favour of powerful spirits, and shape their fighting style through the game’s delightfully named Way of the Donkey skill tree.

Star Trek: Warp | Monumental, LLC | TBD | PC (Mac, Win)

Star Trek fans sure have been spoiled for roguelikes this year. Following the release of Voyager, the franchise is also boldly venturing into deckbuilding territory with Star Trek: Warp.

Rather than commanding a starship through a procedurally generated adventure, Warp is a card battler that brings together legendary characters, iconic ships, and memorable locations from across the long-running sci-fi universe.

Featuring both PvP and PvE modes, the game promises strategic deckbuilding, unique faction mechanics, and plenty of opportunities to collect and customise powerful card combinations inspired by the final frontier.

Feed the Scorchpot | Moravian | 2026 | PC (Win)

Having watched this one cook for quite some time, Mike and I are eager to see what its latest Steam Next Fest demo brings to the table.

This board game-inspired roguelike sees you strike a deal with a dragon, agreeing to provide dinner service for 20 years or risk becoming the meal yourself. Each turn you’ll roll ingredients, build up your island, and fuse together recipes to rack up combos and keep the hungry beast satisfied.

You can get a taste for the game in Mike’s previous preview here.

MineGeon: Renegades | Kickstone Studio | July 14 2026 | PC (Win)

With less than a month to go until release, Kickstone Studios has rolled out an enhanced demo for its upcoming co-op sci-fi bullet-hell roguelite.

After a failed heist leaves you stranded on the mysterious world of Paimo, you and your co-op crew must descend into its depths in search of answers and a way out. The deeper you go, the greater the rewards, but the deadlier the threats that stand in your way.

This Next Fest update adds plenty of fresh content, including a new tank-style fighter class, three additional mini-bosses, and a cooking system to help you survive the chaos.

Cloudbreaker | Ballast Games | 2026 | PC (Win)

Next on the list is Cloudbreakers, an inventory-management Survivors-like set in a vibrant sky world.

Across runs, players can unlock new airships with distinct abilities and layouts and descend beneath the clouds in search of forgotten ruins packed with scrap, relics, and other valuable resources.

As enemy waves become more dangerous, they must strengthen their ship by strategically placing Engine Parts. With each component interacting differently across the grid, creating powerful synergies becomes key to surviving the challenges ahead.

Roguecraft DX | Badger Punch Games | TBD | PC (Win)

A fun fact about this next game is that it isn’t entirely new. While this DX version is fresh, the original release launched as a modern-day Commodore Amiga title back in 2024.

Inspired by classic dungeon crawlers and Lovecraftian horror, the game is presented in gorgeous isometric pixel art and designed for short, bite-sized play sessions. Its three playable characters not only offer distinct playstyles, but also function as different difficulty settings.

The demo is said to include the game’s first five levels, along with access to all three playable characters.

Lostbound | Tenkarider | TBD | PC (Win)

Another retro-inspired release we’re looking forward to is Lostbound, an action roguelike where every step through its collapsing world matters.

As you delve into its shifting dungeons in search of powerful artefacts, you’re relentlessly pursued by a looming black hand, while the environment itself begins to close in behind you. With time always against you, each dungeon you explore becomes a race to gather what you can before you’re snatched up by the ominous black hand.

Warhammer Survivors | Auroch Digital | 2026

I’m also making sure to mention a couple of games that we featured last week ahead of Steam Bullet Fest. The headliner from that week, in my opinion at least, is Warhammer Survivors.

This collaboration between Auroch Digital and poncle is exactly what you think it is: a Vampire Survivors clone with a Warhammer theme. Given how much we love VS and Warhammer here at Rogueliker, this coming together puts this one right at the top of our wishlist. I know Mike is particularly keen to try the demo, which is still up for Next Fest.

Hand of Fate: Hordes | Spitfire Interactive | June 22 | PC (Lin, Mac, Win)

While I was playing Warhammer Survivors, Mike was playing Hand of Fate: Hordes, an upcoming survivors-like that also featured in Steam’s Bullet Fest last week.

The demo is well worth a look if you’re after a survivors-like with a bit more story, and of course, it comes with Spitfire’s famous attention to detail. Much like the deckbuilders that inspired it, this action roguelite looks good and has loads of stuff going on.

Topdeck Automat | Ludokultur | 2026 | PC (Lin, Win)

This roguelike auto-battler deckbuilder hybrid has been on my radar since it was first announced back in March. It boasts a free-form upgrade system that provides near-infinite combinations, and that’s the kind of replayability we love here at RL!

If you’re already in the loop on this one, it’s also worth noting that the demo just got a big update. The aptly named Makeover Update has added new content, plenty of gameplay balancing, and a lick of paint.

Chained Beasts | Featherweight Games | 2026 | PC (Win)

Our penultimate entry is Chained Beasts, a co-op gladiator roguelike that literally shackles you to your teammates.

Much like party game favourites Overcooked and Moving Out, success hinges on teamwork and communication as you battle your way through the colosseum. The chain linking you together can quickly become a liability if it gets tangled, but skilled players can also use it to stun, trip, and control enemies.

While this isn’t the first demo for Chained Beasts, the latest version introduces a fresh roster of characters alongside new weapons and enemy types, giving returning players plenty of reasons to jump back into the arena.

The Devil’s Due | Games People Play | 2026 | PC (Win)

Our concluding demo for this article is one that I’ve had my eye on for ages, and so I wanted to make sure to give it a shoutout for Next Fest.

As a huge Monty Python fan in my youth, the art style in The Devil’s Due really speaks to me. I’m also a sucker for the creepy Wild West aesthetic, and so this poker-themed duelling game, where you take on the Devil and his monstrous buddies, is stacked with things I enjoy.
