I’ve been keeping tabs on Witchfire for a while now. Not only did I recently get to put some questions to the game’s creative director, Adrian Chmielarz, but I’ve been enjoying playing it, too.

Not only that, but watching its progress through Early Access has been quite interesting, thanks to the thoughtful updates made by the team over on the developer’s official website.

Witchfire’s development process started over on Epic, was followed-up on Steam, and is currently ongoing as The Astronauts continue working to make the game “spotless”.

Witchfire’s Early Access Roadmap – September Update

As well as reflecting on the past, the team’s new roadmap hints at what is still to come for Witchfire.

The infographic below shows that two big updates are in the works, and a tentative 2026 release date is due to follow thereafter. Naturally, the team doesn’t want to commit to anything more specific just yet.

The Reckoning Update is the next up, and that one is set to bring melee weapons and more, hopefully before the end of this year.

Despite the fact that there’s still no confirmed Witchfire release date, it’s clear from the tone of the blog post that the devs are entering the final straight and are feeling confident.

“I can tell you that something has shifted in the air,” writes Piotrek Modzelewski. “The team is now focused not on making Witchfire, but on finishing Witchfire. It’s scary, but also exciting.”
